The Exhibition Circuit: Three Metamorphoses

1. CURRENT
Making the invisible flow
Gallery Casabeja - c/ de Sant Lorenç 110, Mahón
Stepping into the gallery at Casabeja, the microscopic is transformed into a large-scale visual language. Plankton is brought to life as the central driving force of the whole ocean. Here, fragments of weathered, everyday life are recontextualized and activated through light, casting shadows that expand, detach, and transform. What appears static begins to breathe—as if the objects themselves were dreaming—transforming these minute, invisible creatures into a tangible, fluid, and emotional experience.

2. PULSE
The vital rhythm of oxygen, data, and living forms
P-Cave — c/ de Infanta 55, Mahón
Unveiling a new alchemical and immersive experience, this exhibition features a dynamic sound installation activated by a live performance and scientific input. Inside this raw cave venue, biomorphic sculptures, video, and a new water installation translate scientific data on climate change and photosynthesis into a living, breathing sensory encounter.

3. ECHO
The soundscapes and cosmic reflections in the glass spheres
P-Lab Gallery — c/ s' Arenal Petit 1-7, Sa Mesquida
The final, intimate chapter of our exhibition series takes place at the legendary P-Lab. This small boathouse gallery—the very birthplace of the project where the local community and a traditional fishing village meet—hosts the annual exhibition raising community awareness through new video-sculptures, found objects, and scientific plates, sparking the legendary dialogues that complete the weekend.

Katja Loher (Zurich, 1979), founder and director of PLANKTON MANIFESTO, has exhibited internationally at venues such as Untitled Art (Miami), Bruce Museum (CT), Core Club NYC, NBMAA (CT), Telfair Museum (GA), World Expo Museum (Shanghai), Figge Art Museum (IA), MuBE (São Paulo), Venice Architecture Biennale, MAXXI Museum (Rome), and the State Hermitage Museum (Russia). She has collaborated with the Swiss Mission UN at Boathouse NY. Her works are in notable collections like Credit Suisse Collection, 21C Museum, Anthem of the Seas Art Collection, Jorge Perez Collection, eN Arts Collection, Horsecross Collection, SwissGrid, Related Group/Jorge Perez, and Oasis VIP Lounge (Bogota Airport).

Abdulla PA (b. 1996, Kerala, India) is a multidisciplinary artist. He presented solo exhibitions including Nomadic Archive (Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, 2023–24) and Ruins of an Embrace (Gallery Dotwalk, 2025). His work has been exhibited at India Art Fair, Vadehra Art Gallery, KHOJ Studios, and internationally in Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. He was an artist-in-residence at Stiftung Kunstdepot, Göschenen, Switzerland (2025), and his works are part of the permanent collections of Kunstdepot Private Museum (Switzerland), IIT Palakkad, and O.P. Jindal Global University. In 2026, he was recognized in ART India Magazine’s 30 Under 30.

PLANKTON MANIFESTO 2026 blends art and the marine world to unveil the invisible life of the ocean, sparking a real desire to protect it.

By merging biomorphic sculptures and dynamic video-sculptures, this multi-sensory series magnifies the microscopic world of plankton. These minute organisms quietly generate more than 50% of the oxygen we breathe, serving as a powerful reminder that human survival is intertwined with theirs.

The 2026 circuit unfolds across three distinct locations in Menorca, challenging viewers to slow down and attune to subtle environmental metamorphoses where the ordinary is re-enchanted and the overlooked is given new life.

The Practice:
Marcela Frey is a charismatic, warm and empathic yogini. Over the last 25 years she has taught across four continents and completed over 700 hours of accredited training, giving her teaching a comprehensive grounding. She leads Yoga retreats and teacher trainings in India, Europe, and South America.

Her teachers have included Indra Devi, and Sara Powers, considered the mother of Yin Yoga. She is a Bioflow professional (working with the breath to release and presignify trauma from the body/mind) and Focus-in (allowing the body to talk through physical sensations).

The sea knows no borders

Chef Jaime Lieberman is a creative force at the intersection of gastronomy, storytelling, and sensory exploration. With more than two decades of international experience, his work transcends the traditional boundaries of fine dining, transforming each menu into an immersive narrative where flavor, memory, science, and emotion converge. His approach is deeply rooted in curiosity, drawing inspiration from nature, anthropology, and the invisible connections that unite ecosystems, cultures, and people.

Throughout his career, Jaime has become recognized for pioneering multisensory dining experiences that challenge the way we perceive taste. From intimate experimental dinners to large-scale gastronomic productions, he has consistently explored how light, sound, texture, aroma, and visual language can amplify the emotional impact of food. His cuisine balances technical precision with instinctive creativity, celebrating ingredients not only for their flavor, but for the stories they carry and the environments from which they emerge.

For this year’s Plankton Manifesto, Jaime presents a culinary vision inspired by the depths of the ocean and the silent flow of its currents. Through thoughtful compositions and a profound respect for marine ecosystems, he invites guests to experience the sea beyond the plate, revealing the beauty of what often remains unseen and reminding us that the immense power of the ocean can inspire life’s greatest transformations.

Damiano Righetti participated in the PLANKTON MANIFESTO in Zurich, Zermatt and Menorca, delivering a scientific presentation that sparked discussions with attendees in the following days, ranging from breakfast to nightcaps. He shared his knowledge and the status of his research, which influenced our presentations.

Across large swathes of the global ocean, plankton remain sparsely observed. Whether these fragmentary observations nevertheless allow us to see the global picture of plankton biodiversity distribution, and with what fidelity, remains neither well understood nor quantified - posing one of the core challenges to his research.

PLANKTON MANIFESTO previews and presents The Invisible Ocean - an immersive multimedia installation by Katja Loher and Abdulla PA, in collaboration with Damiano Righetti, building on this empirical research on plankton distribution patterns and the extraordinary diversity of plankton morphologies. At the center of the installation are diatoms, the highly diverse marine group of phytoplankton, which form glass-like silica cell walls and contribute about 20% of Earth's photosynthetic primary production. Through biomorphic forms, UV-reactive elements, moving projections, and live performances, the work brings communities of diatoms to human visibility, and creates an encounter with the ocean’s invisible architecture from equator to pole.

Damiano Righetti – born in Zurich in 1987 currently works as scientist at ETH Zurich, and at DTU, in Denmark, after completing his doctorate at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He has been intrigued by the ecology of organisms driving the primary production on Earth, primarily plants and plankton. He currently studies the distribution of the body sizes of thousands of plankton to fish species in the ocean using observation driven statistical models.

Community Workshop: Plankton Manifesto
XX XX (Date to be announced)
We will create a collective art installation. Each participant will receive a small clay cube and create a tiny plankton inspired form. All pieces will become part of a larger installation that celebrates diversity and invisible life of the sea. No experience needed, all are welcome.

Workshops:

By combining community engagement, art, and sustainability, this initiative raises awareness about ocean pollution and inspires change. Participants will collect plastic from beaches and the sea, then transform it into 3D printing filaments for sculptures. A professional 3D artist will help turn ideas into digital models for fabrication

How It Works:
- Plastic Waste Collection – Gather discarded plastic materials, such as PET bottles, old prints, failed prints, plastic packaging, and fishing nets.
- Shredding – Break down collected plastic into small flakes using specialized grinders.
- Cleaning & Drying – Wash and dry shredded plastic to remove contaminants.
- Extrusion – Melt and transform plastic flakes into 3D printing filament using an extrusion machine.
- Spooling – Cool and spool the filament, making it ready for 3D printing

Nadia Kazakova is a creative producer and entrepreneur with over two decades of international experience spanning modeling, luxury fashion, art, events, and philanthropy. She develops and produces cultural experiences that connect brands, artists, communities, and purpose-driven initiatives.
She has co-founded and led ventures in luxury fashion and apparel production, developing collections and managing creative partnerships across global markets. As a producer, she has represented artists internationally, facilitated brand collaborations, and created event programs ranging from private luxury gatherings to large-scale philanthropic initiatives. Her work includes producing benefit events, designing capsule collections, and leading partnership initiatives for member communities such as Flyfish Club in New York.(present)
